Page settings and SEO

Edit page/ Page Settings

The Page Settings menu is located at the top left corner of the grey side of the editor. The Page Settings allows you to change your page name, the page SEO options, set this page to be a home page and hide the page from menu.

Page Settings is also accessible via All Pages, then select a page and click on the second icon (from left to right) from the menu next to each page.

The Page settings are as follows:

  • Page name – if you have your page in the navigation menu, then the page name you write will appear there. It also visible in the page URL when you browse through it.
  • SEO options – you can customize the SEO settings for each page like it is an individual website. However, the page SEO is separate from the site SEO but just as important as it is a main factor for improving the visibility of your website in search results.
    • Page title – this is the headline of your website that appears in the tab of your browser when this page is opened, in search engine results and in external websites when you share your page (most often social media sites). The length is normally up to 50-60 characters long but if the title is too long, the search engine will show an ellipsis, "..." to indicate that it has been cut off. Search engines will highlight your page title in the results page which gives great visibility. Many external sites, especially social media use the title tag of the page as its link anchor text. Make sure to write meaningful titles, including one of two of your keywords as this will generate more traffic and will serve best for your ranking purposes.
    • URL – this is known as the web address, displayed on the top, inside an address bar. An example of a typical URL structure would be "www.example.com/home". The first part "www.example.com" is your domain name and the second "/home" tells the unique location for this page. The home page can be accessed directly with your domain name: http://www.yourdomain.com/. It is not necessary to write http://www.yourdomain.com/Home. Normally, your page name gets automatically used as you URL, however you can change your page URL to be independent from your page name.
    • Page Description – the description will appear in the search engine listing if the page is indexed by search engines. It is an opportunity to advertise your page in relation to what it is about to what people are looking for in no more than 160 characters, including spaces as Google cut the description off, shown on the search engine results page, if longer.
    • Custom Metatags – here you can add metatags that are specific for platforms like Facebook, Google+ and others.
    • Tracking Code – this is a code to track information such as number of visitors, page views, how long they stay, etc. You can get this code from your analytics software, such as Google Analytics after creating an account with them.
    • Keywords – these are short phrases of 1 – 4 words that describe your page content and people may use to search for you. Keywords are important factor when optimizing your website. Try to find the best keywords for your particular website so that you are not wasting time appearing in front of the wrong audience. On the other side, if you compete for very popular and broad keywords, then it is twice as hard to get ranked in search results, so use page - specific keywords that are pointing to your content. Also search engines like Google do not use keywords for ranking any more, but there are still other search engines as well as web directories who count on them.
  • Set this page to be a home page – by clicking this button you will turn the page in your home page. You cannot unselect this box as your website should always have a homepage set. To change your homepage just go to the Page settings of the page you want to be your new homepage and tick the box appropriately.
  • Hide from menu – this feature allows you to hide the page from the main menu, so the only way for your visitors to find it, would be to link it to them.
  • Select OK to save the changes made or Cancel accordingly to discard them.
